Fast Trailer Repair for Custom Harvest Crews Moving Through Central Kansas

Fast Trailer Repair for Custom Harvest Crews Moving Through Central Kansas
September 21, 2026
Custom cutters know the drill: follow the ripening line north, keep the machines running, and don’t lose a day you can’t get back. With shops in Great Bend and Emporia, Scott’s Welding Service sits right along the path – which means when a trailer goes down far from your home shop, you’ve got someone local who can turn it around fast and do it right.
That’s the work we’re built for.
What we handle for crews on the move
When you’re on a schedule and hundreds of miles from your usual mechanic, here’s what we can take care of:
- Grain trailer and hopper repairs – cracked frames, failed hopper welds, tarp and gate systems, worn suspension.
- DOT inspections and repairs so you stay legal crossing state lines. As an ASME-certified shop, our repairs are made to pass inspection, not just get you down the road.
- Cargo tank and fuel trailer work. We hold both ‘U’ and ‘R’ stamps, so we can inspect and repair DOT 406, 407, MC 330, and MC 331 vessels – work most local shops can’t legally touch.
- Driveline, axle, and suspension repair to keep grain carts and trailers rolling.
- Emergency welding and fabrication in steel, aluminum, and stainless.
Why “certified” matters when you’re just passing through
It’s tempting to take the fastest patch you can find when you’re behind schedule. But a weld that isn’t done to code can fail again a state or two up the road – or cost you at the next inspection. When we repair a trailer or tank, it’s built to hold and built to pass. That’s the difference between a band-aid and a fix you can forget about.
We know the harvest rhythm
We’re not guessing about your timeline. We work with farmers and haulers through planting, storm season, and harvest every year, so we understand that “when can you get to it” is the only question that matters when the combines are running. Not sure whether something needs the shop today or can wait? Our guide on what to fix now versus what can wait till winter walks through it. We’ll prioritize the work that gets you rolling and be straight with you about whether it’s a shop job or something we can handle on-site.
Before you bring it in
Call ahead and describe the problem – or better, send a photo. We’ll tell you whether to head to the shop or whether we can come to you, roughly how long it’ll take, and what it’ll run. No surprises, no lost days you didn’t plan for.
